LED Bulb Load Resistor – Morimoto
Why You Need a Resistor
When upgrading to LED turn indicators, the lower resistance of the LED bulbs will cause the signals to blink fast (hyperflash) because the car thinks that a bulb has gone out. In order to eliminate this issue, you need to add some resistance to the system, and that is what these resistors accomplish.
Morimoto Heavy Duty Load Resistors may do the same thing as those cheap golden resistors, but they’ll stay cooler, last longer, furthermore, they look better doing it!
Resistors become extremely hot when in use; therefore, it’s not only careless to use a cheaply made part, its downright dangerous.
These resistors utilize dual cement resistors housed inside of an anodized aluminum heat-sink. They are sealed on both ends, and connected by heavy duty 14 gauge wiring coupled with high quality terminals. Hence, from end to end the Morimoto HD load resistors are worlds better than the average golden resistors.
These are available in single or double configurations to provide resistance across either a ground or positive, or even both simultaneously. However, most applications will only require the single pole version.
Integrated mounting points should be used to mount the resistor’s shell to a metal surface under the hood. Since they get so hot, they must be mounted out of harms way and not be touching any plastic or other wiring.
